The CDC defines Multidrug-resistant Organisms (MDRO’s) as microorganisms that have developed resistance to multiple antimicrobial drugs; two MDRO’s we are most familiar with in Long-term Care are MRSA (Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus) and VRE (Vancomycin Resistant Enterococcus).
