The CDC defines Multidrug-resistant Organisms (MDRO’s) as microorganisms that have developed resistance to multiple antimicrobial drugs; two MDRO’s we are most familiar with in Long-term Care are MRSA (Methicillin -resistant Staphylococcus aureus) and VRE (Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus).
